If you’ve been playing online Roulette for any length of time, you already know how satisfying and enjoyable the game is. How can you make it even more so? By adding a little strategy to you playing!
While the results of online Roulette are completely based on chance, there are a few things you can do to make the games more interesting, and to boost your likelihood of landing a payout.
Betting Strategies
When you’re playing live dealer games or are in a land-based casino, it makes sense to study the tables before you choose where to bet. After all, you don’t want a wheel that has been rigged, or drunk and overly aggressive tablemates. In Random Number Generation (RNG) online Roulette, this is not an issue. Just make sure that you choose a table with wager limits that suit your pocket.
Before you start playing, you also need to make sure that you’ve decided on your budget. Doing this before the action starts helps you to stay focused, so you don’t get too swept up in the excitement and find yourself betting more than you intended to. Another important rule of thumb is to cash out your winnings, or at least leave keep them separate to your bankroll.
Make sure that you’re only betting with the money that you started with, and not with any of your payouts. The temptation to add funds to your bankroll can be very tempting, especially if you’re in the middle of a losing streak. However, resist the urge and you’ll end up adding a lot more to your takings! There are two betting category strategies that you need to consider in online Roulette – progressive and non-progressive – and we’re going to look at both of them.
Progressive Betting Strategies
Progressive strategies involve increasing your stake when you win and decreasing it when you lose (positive progression) or vice versa (negative progression). The basic idea here is that, over time, you’ll recoup your losses and make a small profit – no matter how long or ugly your losing streak is.
The amount that you raise or lower your wager by depends on the specific system that you’re using. The Martingale method, where you double your bet when you lose and halve it when you win, is classified as a steep progression system.
On the other hand, the D’Alembert method, where you add a single unit when you lose and remove a single unit when you win, works on the same principle but is considered a much flatter progression system. As a general rule of thumb, steep progressions are better for online Roulette Outside Bets that have an almost 50% chance of winning while the less aggressive flat progressions are suited to Inside Bets.
Non-Progressive Betting Strategies
Non-progressive bets don’t go up or down according to any kind of system. If you use a non-progressive strategy, you either keep your stake the same for the duration of the game, or you raise it or lower it in whatever way you like.
For instance, the James Bond method devised by Ian Fleming involves betting 5%, 70% and 25% of your total bet amount on the 0, the 19-36 box and the 13-18 box respectively. That’s a little riskier than progressive options, but the theory is that you only lose if the ball hits a number between 1 and 12 and it can add a lot of excitement to every round.
When you’re choosing a strategy, you need to decide what you want most from your games of online Roulette. Do you want to maximise your chances of making at least a small profit, or do you want the excitement of placing big, unpredictable wagers and then waiting to see what happens? Either option is a good choice, as long as you make sure you stay within your budget!
