Las Vegas has a reputation to uphold. Not only as being the infamous Sin City, where a person can go and get crazy, drink all night, gamble all day, and watch some questionable shows. But also as a place where a person can strike it rich, rake in an obscene amount of money, and go home carrying suitcases stuffed full of dollar bills. So, of course, it makes sense that the biggest slots game wins in history come from Las Vegas.
Now, winning a jackpot on a slots game isn’t easy, and takes a great deal of time and patience. Many will be lucky to win less than million dollar slot game jackpots in their lives, but even these tend to be range in the tens of thousands of dollars range. So, when a person manages to walk away with tens of millions of dollars, it’s a pretty rare occasion. Either way, it does happen, and when it does, it tends to make headline news. With that being said, these are the biggest slots game jackpot wins in history.
$39.7 Million
A slots game titled Megabucks is well known in Vegas, reputed to be where a person has the potential to turn millionaire in the blink of an eye. Many flock to Vegas for the sole purpose of playing this particular slots game, and its no wonder why given the amount of biggest slot game win in history. It stands at a mind blowing $39.7 million, and was won on March 21, 2003, at the Excalibur.
The specifics of who won the enormous sum of cash are not known, given that the person decided to stay anonymous. And who wouldn’t, given that every relative they never knew would surely be beating down the door. One can only imagine that the person is now on a permanent holiday, perhaps on a cruise ship they bought, cash.
$34.9 Million
The second biggest win in history was also on a Megabucks slots game, so one can start to understand how the notorious game has gained its reputation. The winner of the jaw dropping $34.9 Million jackpot, however, is a bit of a legend in Las Vegas history. Why? Simply because Cynthia Jay-Brennan, a cocktail waiters at the Desert Inn where the jackpot struck, was paralysed by a car accident just a month and half after winning. Her sister died in the same accident.
A tragic story indeed, and a stark reminded of how luck can fluctuate dramatically.
$27.5 Million
The third biggest jackpot in Vegas history further proves that the wheel of fortune can swing both ways, literally. A retired flight attendant scooped the jackpot at the Palace Station; also on a – you guessed it – Megabucks slots game.
What is so remarkable about this win? That the same retired flight attendant had won over half a million dollars the previous year, at the same hotel. Lightening can indeed strike twice.
