Roulette is one of the most exciting games to play when it comes to the casino. Tension and excitement are guaranteed from each spin whether you are playing on your Lucky Nugget Casino app or down the local casino.
Another reason roulette is so popular is that it’s a relatively simple game to play. There are no confusing rules to understand or terms to learn. Instead, you just have to know how the bets work. And, our guide will run down every bet you need to know, so next time you’re playing on the wheel, you won’t miss a single way to make money.
Understanding roulette bets
Firstly, the bets and odds we will take you through focus entirely on European roulette. The American version of roulette incorporates an additional double zero, so you’d be mad to play at that wheel anyway!
Red or black: The most obvious bet when it comes to roulette. Choosing a colour gives you just under a 50% chance of winning and pays out at evens.
Odd or even: Similarly, with odd or even, you have a near 50% chance of winning and will double your stake if the ball lands on your call.
High or Low: The final way you can get a payout of 1:1 is with a high or low bet. It can also be listed a 1-18 or 19-36, so pick which side you think and spin the wheel!
Whilst all of those bets are fairly easy to understand, there are many other ways you can increase your payouts, but of course, they come with more risk.
Dozens:: With numbers 1-36 on a roulette wheel, they can be split into thirds, and each dozen offers a payout of 2:1. The 1st 12 covers numbers 1-12, the 2nd numbers 13-24 and the 3rd dozen numbers 25-36.
Columns: The layout of the roulette table has three columns and once again you can get payouts of 2:1 if you call the right column. The columns are easy to see from the set up of the roulette table and could land you a nice win if you make the right call.
Straight Up: This is the one that will make you some real money! Do you have a lucky number? If you do, you can get a payout of 35:1 for calling the exact number the roulette ball lands on.
Split/: If you place your bet across two numbers on the table, you will cover both of them. This means if either of the numbers come up, you win. And, the payout is a cool 17:1.
Street:: This bet covers any number within a row of three numbers, such as ‘1,2,3’ or ‘4,5,6’. If any of those come up, you will be paid out at odds of 11:1.
Corner: When you place your bet in the middle of four numbers on the table, you will be paid out if any of those come up. Any one of them landing will result in a payout of 8:1.
Line: A line bet is similar to a street bet, except it covers more numbers, six to be exact. The bet will cover two rows of three numbers, such as 1-6 and will reward a payout of 5:1.
It’s always important to understand the many ways you can bet before you play roulette and as you can see, there’s a lot to choose from. However, the beauty of roulette is that there are no restrictions. If you want to place a bet on a corner, several straight up bets and a corner bet, you can. Just make sure you stick within your budget and look at all the possibilities before you let the thrill of the spin begin.
